Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative opens AI funding competition – htn

The Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative has launched an artificial intelligence funding competition, with an aim to improve patient safety, diagnostic accuracy and accelerate care pathways.

It has been designed to “support operational clinical trials of existing radiology AI solutions which can be readily purchased off the shelf today”.

Applications can bid for up to £40,000 to support a “structured evaluation of the proposed solution”, said to “help better understand the capabilities and limitations of the trialled technology, and to inform decision-making as we look to procure AI solutions at a regional network scale”.

The funding competition is open to trusts in the Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative regional imaging network. Applicants should detail their proposed solution, the technology, the problem it aims to solve, and the potential benefits for patients and the healthcare system.

Projects will be evaluated through the year, at an initial go-live stage and after one year to evaluate the usage and clinical impact.

The criteria for reviewing applications includes the suitability of the project, if there is duplication in the Collaborative, and the project feasibility.

Find out more on the Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative website here. The deadline to apply is 11 April.
