Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICS to introduce care traffic control centres – htn

Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICS has partnered with Faculty to introduce ‘intelligent care traffic control centres’ with an aim to view demand, capacity and predict future need across the ICS.

The ICS hopes to improve operational planning, by using a predictive analytics tool from Faculty, that pulls in data from ambulance services, NHS 111, social care, acute providers, virtual wards, GP and mental health providers.

Said to provide frontline staff and hospital managers with real-time, 24/7 access to key data, the system will be used to view activity, staffing levels, up-coming patient demand, and forecast future demand.

In addition, the ICS aims to forecast patient flow, patient harm, and scenario planning to improve operational decision making and UEC performance across the region.

The partnership says that the dashboard “will be co-developed with colleagues across the ICB, ensuring that it can be quickly adopted by frontline teams and aid decision making”.

Zillah Anderson, delivery director at Faculty, commented on the project: “We are committed to helping hospital systems get more from their data – using cutting-edge AI technology to empower frontline staff decision making and improve patient care.

“These new intelligent care traffic control centres will equip staff across BNSSG with critical insights to optimise decision-making and allocate resources most effectively, proactively managing patient demand and improving care.”

HTN last reported on the ICS in November 2022, when a market engagement was launched for a shared care record programme, with plans to procure a solution in 2023.
