Cardiff and Vale University Health Board opens expression of interest for digital clinical audit platform – htn

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has issued a prior information notice seeking expressions of interest from suppliers for a digital clinical audit platform to support the health board in completing “circa 10,000 annual audits to support quality assurance, improvement projects and ward accreditation incentives”.

The health board outlines a requirement for the platform to utilise open APIs, with a data feed for real-time audit warehousing, customisability to meet the needs of different services and settings, the ability to allow local administrator rights for “instant adjustment to audit questions or scoring”, reminder and notification features, real-time data reporting and analytics, role-based access, and more.

Potential suppliers should be able to demonstrate experience in deploying clinical audit and quality improvement platforms in “large healthcare settings”, and should be able to commit to ongoing support and training, as well as platform maintenance. Compliance with GDPR and similar standards is also a requirement. To learn more about the prior information notice, please click here.

Digital in health and care across Wales

Digital Health and Care Wales recently published its organisational strategy for 2024-2030 this year, framed around five key missions: to provide a platform for enabling digital transformation, to deliver high quality digital products and services, to expand the digital health and care record and the use of digital to improve healthcare, to drive better values and outcomes through innovation, and to be a trusted strategic partner and a high quality, inclusive and ambitious organisation.

For a HTN Now panel discussion on innovation in primary care, we were joined by Sam Hall, director of primary, community care and mental health digital services at Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW); Liz Leggott, project manager for South Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub; and Bex Cottey, business manager for Conisbrough GPs.

In March, DHCW published its Digital Health and Care Wales 2024-2027 primary care strategy, sharing priorities including developing a digital futures team with the intention of shaping technology choices, and enhancing researching and reporting capability.

For a recent webinar on patient communication and engagement, we were joined by a panel including Joanna Dundon (national digital lead for public engagement at Digital Health and Care Wales); Laura Adams (patient and public involvement and engagement facilitator for research and innovation at Medway NHS Foundation Trust); John Kosobucki (CEO and founder of OX.DH); and Bex Cottey (business manager at Conisbrough GPs).

In August, NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership Procurement Services published a prior information notice seeking expressions of interest from industry partners to help shape a “comprehensive” commercialisation strategy and delivery model for Wales, aiming to help realise commercial value from NHS innovation activities.
