Mediplus expands TIVA range with 5-way set

Medical device developer Mediplus has announced the launch of its 5-way TIVA Set.

This product is the first 5-way set available on the market, designed to advance the management of intravenous anaesthesia.

The 5-way TIVA Set allows clinicians to administer up to four different drugs and an infusion through a single, integrated system.

Previously, managing four drugs required multiple lines and connection points, increasing the risk of leaks and blockages.

With the new 5-way set, all drug lines converge into one streamlined hub, simplifying the procedure and improving patient safety.

This set reduces the need for additional lines and taps, thereby minimising potential leaks and dosing errors.

Emma Gray at Mediplus said: “Our goal at Mediplus is to enhance patient care through innovative solutions.

“The new 5-way TIVA Set not only improves anaesthesia management by streamlining the delivery of multiple drugs through a single, integrated system but also underscores our commitment to sustainable practices.

“Customer feedback has been invaluable in refining this product; insights from our pre-launch evaluation sites have significantly shaped the final design, and we look forward to further feedback in early November.”

The design features Siamese tubing, which prevents the tangled mess of multiple lines and ensures a cleaner setup.

Each line is colour-coded for easy identification, which helps streamline the administration process.

Additionally, the set includes an anti-siphon valve that prevents backflow and free flow in the drug lines, as well as an anti-reflux valve on the fluid line to prevent backflow.

The 5-way TIVA Set is available in 2.5M and 3M lengths, offering flexibility for various clinical needs.

It also supports more efficient TIVA procedures, which in turn contributes to a better post-operative experience for patients by reducing the incidence of post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and supporting environmental benefits through decreased use of volatile anaesthetic gases.

Mediplus continues to prioritise sustainability, and this new product is part of a broader effort to reduce plastic content while improving performance.

Recent improvements to the High Flow Y Connector and the 4-way TIVA Set reflect Mediplus’s commitment to both environmental responsibility and product excellence.
