Today, Sefton Council, in partnership with Sefton Carers Centre, proudly launched the 999 ReUnite Safeguarding Wristband.
They are a free, innovative tool designed to support unpaid carers and families across Sefton.
Unveiled at the Alzheimer’s UK event in Sefton, the wristbands are part of a wider initiative to provide peace of mind and practical support to those caring for loved ones.
These waterproof, soft, and adjustable wristbands contain vital information that can be accessed by emergency services, police, fire, or ambulance should the person being cared for become lost, confused, or require urgent assistance.
No batteries are required, and the system is not a tracker, ensuring privacy whilst still offering essential safeguarding. Anyone with a smartphone can access the wristband’s information simply by tapping it, even without the app installed.
Councillor Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health and Deputy Leader, said:
“We’re proud to be launching the 999 ReUnite wristbands today. This initiative is a vital step forward in safeguarding vulnerable residents and supporting the incredible unpaid carers who do so much for our community. These wristbands offer reassurance and practical help, ensuring that vital information is available when it’s needed most.”
Vicky Keeley, CEO of Sefton Carers Centre, added:
“Unpaid carers often face enormous challenges, and the 999 ReUnite wristbands are a simple but powerful way to help them feel more secure. We’re thrilled to be working with Sefton Council to make these wristbands freely available to families across the borough.”
