Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre has reached practical completion after a £17.8m project for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
The facility was delivered by Ergéa UK through a long-term Managed Service partnership with the trust.
The programme began with a ground-breaking ceremony and the start of site work in October 2025.
Ergéa UK said the project was completed on time and within budget through work involving the company, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and construction partner Actiform.
Modern construction methods were used, with the main building work taking place between January and March 2026.
Diagnostic equipment was installed by early April, allowing commissioning and final preparations to begin before the building was completed.
The facility reached practical completion on 12 June 2026, marking a milestone in Somerset’s long-term diagnostic transformation strategy.
Practical completion means that construction work has finished, although final checks and preparations may still be required before a building opens.
Clinical preparations will continue before the centre begins seeing patients later this year.
David Craig, CDC director for Somerset, said: “This milestone also marks the successful conclusion of Somerset’s Diagnostic Transformation Programme. I am incredibly proud of what the team has achieved and, most importantly, of the impact it will have for local people. Through the programme, we have delivered an additional 877,608 diagnostic tests for the population of Somerset.”

Ergéa UK said the project demonstrated its Managed Equipment Services model, which combines infrastructure delivery, medical technology procurement, equipment installation and management throughout the equipment’s working life.
The project progressed from ground-breaking in October 2025 to practical completion in June 2026.
Ergéa UK said it reflected collaboration between the organisations involved and their aim of improving healthcare services across Somerset.
