East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has gone live with its electronic patient record system over the weekend.
The programme, known as ‘eLancs’, is designed to improve patient care by replacing paper-based notes and records with digital tools, including introducing a new electronic patient record system across its hospitals.
Highlights of the transition to the new system were shared on Twitter over the weekend, with the Coronary Care Unit one of the first departments to go live:

The trust has ensured that many super-users are available to help staff; last week, we highlighted this included recruiting 1,000 ambassadors and super users, from a range of job roles and departments.

Linda Vernon, iYesterday’s go live was a massive credit to Daniel Hallen, Dr. Chris Gardner, Alistair Gray and an army of leaders and front liners who rolled up their sleeves to support ED, SDEC, AMU, CCU and some other wards who experienced their first day on a new EPR.”
She added: “I felt quite privileged to be able to help the front line clinicians, admin and patient services teams navigate the day; the closest I’ve been in my digital career to an EPR procurement & deployment, as a humble floor walker who shows up when all the hard work is done. A day not without expected teething problems, but refreshing for me to see the frontline fruits of the labour of digital transformation, in action! Well done to all involved, probably not yet time to rest, but it’s in sight!”
