Hillingdon Hospitals NHS goes live with EPR – htn

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS FT has gone live with its electronic patient record system this month from supplier Cerner.

The system went live on 3 November, with the trust commenting it will “transform the way it works” and support its transition from using paper and multiple systems.

Commenting on the launch, Tina Benson, chief operating officer, said: “The launch of Cerner EPR has been years in the planning and will help our teams view patient records in real-time without the need for transporting physical patient notes, which also includes allowing us to share necessary information with other north west London trusts. I am delighted that our patients will be able to benefit from the new system and its potential to improve the care we provide.

“Thank you to all our staff who have helped prepare for launch. I’m excited we’re taking this leap forward in using technology to offer our patients the best possible care, and hope everyone sees the true benefits for our patients and staff in the coming days and months.”

To support the go-live, the trust shared updates on social media, and an introduction to the EPR for patients, answering: why the EPR been brought in; will there be changes in the level of care; will there be changes away and outside the hospital; what does it mean for patient record confidentiality and safety; what will happen to paper records; and what does it mean for staff – view the information here.

This week the trust also shared news of the new Hillingdon Hospital, through a video:

In EPR news in September, we reached out to peers and industry experts to hear their views on their own electronic patient record implementation journeys, key learnings and advice. Earlier in the year, we spoke with industry leaders to discuss EPR business cases and key learnings to consider.
