Justin Hely to be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of GenesisCare U.K. and Europe – Digital Health Technology News

GenesisCare, the UK’s leading private provider of cancer care, today announced the appointment of Justin Hely, MBA, as GenesisCare Chief Executive Officer of the UK and Europe.

Justin joined GenesisCare as UK General Manager in 2021. In this role, Justin has demonstrated his commitment to supporting doctors and clinical teams to deliver rapid access to high quality diagnostic, systemic, and radiotherapy treatment options.

His appointment as CEO of GenesisCare UK and of Europe will become effective upon the company’s emergence from Chapter 11 to align with GenesisCare’s restructuring into three distinct businesses: one in the UK, one in Spain, and one in Australia. The company’s new investors will also be retaining a U.S. business in selected regions as a separate investment.

Justin will lead GenesisCare UK in partnership with the UK management team and doctors, and also work with GenesisCare’s Spain CEO, Brendan Capell, to ensure strong alignment of GenesisCare’s European growth and investment priorities.

GenesisCare’s Global CEO, David Young, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Justin as the CEO of GenesisCare UK and Europe, spearheading our business’s progress as we navigate our emergence from Chapter 11. Justin’s leadership has steered our UK network through a transformative phase, marked by his dedication to the delivery of high-quality services for cancer patients. I am confident that, under Justin’s guidance, we will further strengthen our foundations and advance GenesisCare towards an exciting phase of growth and innovation in the UK and Europe.”

Justin has more than 20 years’ experience in the UK and international healthcare markets. He began his career in the National Health Service before joining professional services firm, Ernst & Young, where he advised a range of clients on operational and strategic improvement programmes. Other positions include senior roles in the private hospitals and diagnostics markets where Justin was responsible for bringing growth opportunities and operational excellence to healthcare providers.

Justin said: “At GenesisCare, our incredible doctors, clinical teams, and employees are the heart of our success, and I’m thrilled to lead the way as the UK’s leading private provider of cancer care services. We’ve seen continuous growth in patient treatments, and our commitment to delivering the best outcomes remains our number one priority. The expansion of my role to Europe adds an exciting dimension, and I can’t wait to see what opportunities unfold ahead.”

GenesisCare operates 14 cancer treatment centres in the UK and will be offering the latest treatment options at a state-of-the-art cancer centre in Guildford opening in 2024.
