SpaMedica awarded top international HR accolade for employee support and development – Digital Health Technology News

Platinum accreditation from global industry body Investors in People puts company in top 7% of organisations worldwide

Leading NHS eye health provider SpaMedica has been recognised for its ‘remarkable effort’ in supporting and developing its employees, receiving the highest possible rating from global HR body Investors in People (IIP).

The company, which employs 2044 people at SpaMedica hospitals nationwide and its Bolton head office, has been awarded the prestigious We Invest in People Platinum accreditation – an accolade shared with just 7% of IIP member organisations globally.

Furthermore, the achievement puts SpaMedica in the top 450 companies to work for, across all sectors worldwide, according to IIP ratings.

The award follows a thorough assessment earlier this year, highlighting the company’s commitment to its team and recognising initiatives aimed at supporting employees’ personal and professional growth. The Platinum accreditation supersedes SpaMedica’s previous Gold status, which it has held since 2018.

SpaMedica is the largest NHS cataract surgery provider in the UK and has more than 50 hospitals nationwide. It recently announced its new surgeon training programme, offering more cataract training placements than any other independent service provider.

Jo-Anne Ratcliffe, SpaMedica’s Chief People Officer says: “Achieving IIP’s Platinum status is an outstanding team result – we couldn’t have done it without the brilliant contribution and dedication of every single colleague.

“Our employees work exceptionally hard every day to provide the highest quality care for our patients, and everyone plays a part in the company’s ongoing success. Colleagues tell us they feel valued for their hard work – through smaller things like lunches and internal recognition schemes, as well as ongoing career support, where they have the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence through internal development programmes.”

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate SpaMedica. Platinum accreditation is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places SpaMedica in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”
