Peppy Health raises £37 million for US expansion – htn

Peppy Health, a platform that provides workplace health support, has secured £37 million in a Series B funding round led by Albion Capital, to support US expansion.

The company’s platform is said to “support your employees through underserved areas of health that fall through the gaps all too often – menopause, fertility, having a baby, women’s health and men’s health.”

Peppy uses live chat and virtual consultations to provide users with “unlimited access to specialist healthcare providers” and currently supports more than 1.5 million people.

Their story began in 2016 when the company launched menopause support as an employee benefit. A few years on from then, HTN interviewed Max Landry, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder, to explore the platform.

Commenting on the funding, Molly Gilmartin, Investment Manager at Albion Capital, said: “We know that women and their families have been long underserved by existing healthcare systems. Peppy have shown how this extends to many other conditions and groups. They have successfully identified therapeutic areas where the modern workforce is unsupported during life’s most important episodes.

“Clear care pathways simply do not exist for areas like menopause, early parenthood and men’s health – symptoms can be non-specific and complex, more research is needed to fully understand the conditions, and people are not always comfortable talking about these challenges particularly in the workplace. For example, nearly two thirds of women do not feel comfortable to talk about health issues in the workplace, and 39% of employers say men do not address health issues until they cause severe disruption. These challenging times can lead to people leaving their jobs, taking time off and being less productive and engaged – 59% of women take time off due to menopause symptoms and 1 in 10 women actually give up work because of them.

“Peppy’s customers draw from both blue collar and white collar industries and provides access to personalised support for all genders, age and background, addressing the widespread but unmet need that remains underserved by the traditional healthcare systems.”

Peppy now support over 250 enterprise businesses including Accenture, Adobe, Canada Life, Disney, and Marsh McLennan.
