Indian biotech company Mylab Discovery Solutions is integrating Qure.ai’s AI technology into its upcoming x-ray device for screening tuberculosis.
According to a press statement, MyBeam is a compact, lightweight device equipped with high-frequency technology for detecting TB. It will be powered by Qure.ai’s deep-learning software qXR to analyse chest x-ray images and identify TB within a minute.
WHY IT MATTERS
India is one of the biggest contributors to global TB cases, accounting for 26% of the total global count and 34% of all TB deaths.
By leveraging technological innovation, both Mylab and Qure.ai aim to support the Indian government’s goal of eliminating TB by 2025. Their integrated solution, said Mylab, will help broaden access to screening services among at-risk populations. It can be most beneficial in remote settings where there is also a lack of diagnostic resources.
Aside from augmenting TB screening capabilities, it can also help relieve pressure on health facilities when it comes to identifying presumptive TB cases.
“[W]ith Qure.ai’s power of deep learning for radiology, the process will become much faster, more objective and scalable,” claimed Mylab managing director and co-founder Hasmukh Rawal.

This is not the first time that the qXR, a WHO-recommended and CE-marked solution for the preliminary detection of TB, has been used to support the expansion of TB screening in India. In 2021, Fujifilm India started collaborating with Qure.ai to integrate its AI software into the Fujifilm X-ray FDR Xair system.
Meanwhile, VinBrain, a medical AI software developer in Vietnam, recently developed an AI model for detecting TB. The said model, which has shown high sensitivity and specificity in reading chest x-rays for TB diagnosis, has been integrated into VinBrain’s DrAid platform.
